"VIÂ SANFRANCISCO" handstamp, with original printed circular datelined "Shanghae, October 16th, 1867", cancel actually ties stamp to enclosure--carried on PMSS
Costa Rica, departing Shanghai Oct. 17, 1867, arriving Yokohama Oct. 24, then by PMSS
Great Republic, departing Yokohama Oct. 25, arriving San Francisco Nov. 19--the three recorded covers on this trip are shown in the Frajola-Perlman-Scamp book (pp. 88-90, see lot 2042 for another), all have the same blue segmented cork cancel applied in Shanghai--Very Fine, ex Dr. Rorke and Drucker, with 1981 P.F. certificate
