Ruyter Jr., a clerk in the firm of Schmidt, Westphal & Co., Nagasaki, Japan, blue "Forwarded by Russell & Co. Shanghai Oct. 11, 1873" double-oval ribbon-marker datestamp on back--carried on PMSS branch-line steamer Costa Rica, departing Shanghai October 12 and arriving in Nagasaki days later--docketing with October 14 receipt date, mended opening tear in backflap slightly affects forwarder's marking
