Sale 1248, Lot 2098, Mail Between United States Post Offices in Japan3c Green, H. Grill (136). Tied by Nagasaki "X" in box cancel on folded cover to J. Raud & Co. in Yokohama, "Pignatel & Co. Nagasaki (Japon)" double-oval handstamp, sender's directive "par 'Golden Age'"--carried on PMSS Golden Age, departing Shanghai Oct. 4, 1873, picking up mail at Nagasaki and arriving Yokohama Oct. 12--docketed with Oct. 12 receipt date, lightly toned and slight erosion along file fold, still Very Fine, an extremely rare Nagasaki interconsular use and the only recorded example of this "X" in box cancellation, illustrated in Frajola-Perlman-Scamp book (p. 193), signed in pencil by Herbert J. Bloch and Calvet M. Hahn
